How to Schedule Actions in Gemini for Daily Briefings and Reminders
On gemini.google.com, type what you want and when, for example a summary of today’s calendar and unread email every weekday at 7 a.m., and click Submit. Gemini confirms the schedule and delivers each result to that chat. Manage schedules from Scheduled in the sidebar. You can have up to 10 active, and Keep Activity must be on.
The short version
A scheduled action is a prompt that runs itself. Write it once with a time and a frequency, and Gemini delivers the answer every day, week or month. The best ones replace a small daily chore: checking your calendar, skimming the news on one topic, or practicing a skill.
Step by step
- Go to gemini.google.com and sign in. Check that Keep Activity is on.
- If your schedule needs your email or calendar, connect Google Workspace first (see connect Gemini to Gmail and Drive).
- Type the prompt, including when and how often: “Every weekday at 7 a.m…”
- Click Submit. Gemini replies with a summary of the schedule.
- Results arrive in that chat. On the web, it’s marked unread; in the app, you get a notification.
- To change it, ask in the same chat (“Make it 6:30 instead”) or click More > Edit.
Manage your schedules
Click Scheduled in the sidebar to see them all. Hover over one and click More > Pause or Resume, or More > Delete. You can have up to 10 active at a time.

Morning briefing:
Every weekday at 7 a.m., summarize my calendar for today, my unread emails that need a reply,
and any tasks due today. Keep it under 150 words.
Topic tracker:
Every Monday at 8 a.m., give me the 5 most important news stories from the past week
about small-business tax changes in the US, with a link for each.
Skill practice:
Every day at 6 p.m., give me a 5-question Spanish vocabulary quiz at beginner level
on everyday topics like food, travel and shopping. Put the answers at the end.
Weekend ideas:
Every Friday at noon, suggest 3 new cafes or restaurants near [your town] to try this weekend.
Example
You set: the morning briefing above.
What arrives at 7 a.m.: two meetings, three emails that need replies (with who sent them) and one task due. You glance at it with coffee instead of opening three apps. On Friday, ask “Also include tomorrow’s weather” and the schedule updates for future days.
Mistakes to avoid
- No time in the prompt. Say exactly when and how often, or Gemini has to guess.
- Expecting live data. Schedules are prepared ahead; use them for summaries, not prices.
- Too many schedules. If you stop reading one, pause it. Google may turn off inactive ones anyway.
- Location surprises. Google says a location-based schedule (like weather) keeps using the place where you created it. Name the city in the prompt.
Good to know
Google is rolling scheduled actions out gradually, so you may not have them yet. These chat schedules are separate from the task schedules in Tasks in Gemini, which Google lists for Pro and Ultra plans. To make a briefing follow your rules every time, put them in a skill; see create skills in Gemini.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a paid plan to schedule actions?
Google's feature table on October 29, 2026 listed scheduled actions for Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra, not for accounts without a plan. Work and school accounts need a qualifying Google Workspace edition.
Is a scheduled report fully up to date?
Not to the minute. Google says Gemini prepares the result within the hour before delivery, so fast-changing data like stock prices won't be the latest. It works best for daily summaries.
Why did my schedule stop?
Google says schedules can be turned off automatically after a period of inactivity. Open Scheduled in the sidebar and resume it.
