How to Plan a Trip with Gemini Using Google Flights, Hotels and Maps

Ask Gemini on gemini.google.com or in the app for flights, hotels or places, with your dates, budget and preferences. It pulls public information from Google Flights, Google Hotels and Google Maps. It can’t book for you, so finish the booking on the airline or hotel site. Keep Activity must be on.

The short version

Gemini can do the searching that usually takes ten tabs: flights, hotels, places and drive times, in one conversation. Because it uses Google Flights, Hotels and Maps, the options are real. You still check the details and book yourself.

Step by step

  1. Go to gemini.google.com or open the Gemini app and sign in. Check that Keep Activity is on; Google says Flights, Hotels and Maps need it.
  2. Start with flights. Give origin, destination, dates, travelers and limits: “nonstop”, “under $400”, “economy”.
  3. Then hotels. Give the area, dates, number of adults and must-haves like parking or a pool.
  4. Then places. Ask for restaurants, parks or attractions near your hotel, opening hours, and drive or walk times. Click a place’s name to open it in Google Maps.
  5. Build the plan. Ask for a day-by-day itinerary using what you’ve chosen.
  6. Save it. Ask Gemini to save the packing list to Google Keep or add the flight to Google Calendar (this needs the Google Workspace app connected).
  7. Book on the airline or hotel site and confirm the price there.

Example

You ask: “Find hotels in Phuket for a week in March and suggest a packing list.” (one of Google’s own examples)

A good result: a short list of hotels with prices and ratings, and a packing list for the weather. Ask “Save the packing list to Keep” and it’s on your phone when you pack.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Treating prices as final. Confirm on the booking page; fares change by the hour.
  • Leaving out constraints. Kids, mobility, budget and dates change everything. Say them up front.
  • Trusting opening hours blindly. Check holiday hours on the place’s own site or Maps listing.
  • Expecting Gemini to book. It searches; you book.

Good to know

Google says Gemini can search flights by airline, maximum price, stops, seating class and trip length, and hotels by amenities, brand and number of nights. It can’t search by airline alliance or find package deals outside Google Hotels. For a bigger trip, ask for a report with Gemini Deep Research.

Frequently asked questions

Can Gemini book my flight or hotel?

No. Google's Help Center says Gemini can't book flights or hotels, change or cancel reservations, check you in, or set alerts on saved flights.

Are the prices Gemini shows accurate?

Gemini uses public information from Google Flights and Google Hotels, but prices change. Always confirm the final price on the booking page.

Can Gemini show live traffic?

No. Google lists live traffic updates as something Gemini can't do with Google Maps. Use the Maps app for that.
