Senior engineering judgment, when you need it

I help companies make sound technical decisions and ship software faster: as a fractional CTO and advisor, by leading AI-accelerated delivery, and by converting or building websites on a modern, secure stack. Every engagement starts with a free 30-minute call.

What I offer

  • Fractional CTO & technical advisory

Senior architecture judgment without a full-time hire: strategy, reviews and decisions you can defend.

    • Architecture review and technical due diligence
    • Legacy modernization: what to keep, what to rebuild and in what order
    • Regulated and medical software (DICOM, diagnostics, clinical integration)
    • Engineering mentorship and technical leadership

17 years as lead engineer reporting directly to a CFO, owning a six-application platform for 1,000+ users.

  • AI-accelerated delivery

Make AI coding tools deliver production software, not technical debt: workflow, decomposition and review.

    • Set up AI coding assistants, project rules and review practices for your team
    • Specification and work decomposition for AI-generated code
    • AI-assisted rewrites and modernization, led end to end
    • Workflow automation and ROI assessment

Leading an AI-assisted rewrite scoped at about 12 months with a full team, now tracking to about 3 months with a very small one.

  • Website conversion & creation

Move an aging site to a fast, secure, modern stack, or build a new one, without losing your search rankings.

    • WordPress and legacy site conversions that keep old URLs and SEO
    • New websites and web apps: React front end, C# / .NET back end, PostgreSQL
    • Staff back office: content editing, sign-in with two-step verification, audit log
    • Hosting set up for you: server, HTTPS, email and backups

Recent builds include a dental practice site with a secure staff back office and a 35-article clinical education site migrated from WordPress.

  • AI chat assistant for your website

An assistant that answers your visitors' questions at any hour, from your own content, and sends them to the right next step.

    • Knowledge built from your website, menus, price lists and FAQs
    • Rules in your voice, including what it must never say
    • Tested against your real customer questions before launch
    • Cost caps, abuse limits and privacy wording included

Running on this site: the "Ask AI Jan" assistant in the corner of every page.

    • PostgreSQL
    • Two-step sign-in
  • Clinical education site

Migrated a WordPress site with 35 articles, 141 reader comments, a Q&A forum and 260+ clinical photos to a modern stack, keeping every old address working for search engines.

    • WordPress migration
    • SEO preserved
    • Moderated forum
  • AI Web Center

This site: React pages pre-rendered for search and AI answer engines, a C# signup API, and its own server with HTTPS and DKIM-signed email.

    • Self-hosted

Live website examples

Try the software, not just a screenshot

All examples

Working sites for fictional businesses (plus one concept site for a real Delft artist, made with his permission), each with a C# API and PostgreSQL behind it. Book a visit, order dinner or reserve a camper van: it all really runs.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work remotely?

Yes. I'm based in Huntington Beach, California, and work with clients remotely, in English, Dutch or German.

Can you convert my site without losing search rankings?

Yes. Conversions keep your existing page addresses or redirect them to the new ones, so links and search rankings carry over.

Who hosts the finished website?

Your choice. It can run on your own hosting account or server, or I can set up and manage a server for you, including HTTPS, email and backups.

How does pricing work?

It starts with a free introductory call. You then get a written proposal with the scope, timeline and price before any work begins.
