Image editor
Open a photo and edit it right here: crop, straighten, turn and resize; adjust the light and color or pick a filter; add text, arrows and boxes; blur or black out faces, plates and names; put on a text or logo watermark; paint over a date stamp, a spot or your own old watermark to remove it; and see the hidden data a photo carries, such as where it was taken, and save it without. It opens JPEG, PNG, iPhone HEIC, WebP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, BMP, ICO, SVG and Photoshop PSD, and saves JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, BMP and favicons. Your images are edited in your browser and never uploaded.

No photo handy? Try one of these
Your images stay on your device. They are opened and edited in this browser tab and never uploaded to a server. They are gone when you click Close and delete, or leave or reload the page.
Convert many images at once
Turn iPhone HEIC photos into JPEG, make smaller copies for a website, or put your watermark on a whole set. Each image is opened, changed and saved again in this tab, and you get them back together as a ZIP, without location or other hidden data.

I build web applications that work with photos and documents: upload flows that resize and clean images in the browser before they leave the device, product and listing photo tools, and portals that keep people's files private. Tell me what you need and get a first proposal.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The editor runs in your browser: your image is read, edited and saved on your own device, and nothing is sent to a server. The page only downloads its own code, and for some formats a decoder: the HEIC reader the first time you open an iPhone photo in a browser that can't read HEIC itself, and the AVIF encoder the first time you save as AVIF. Close and delete, or leaving the page, removes the image from memory.
How do I convert HEIC to JPEG?
Open the HEIC photo and save it as JPEG. For a whole set, use Convert many images below the editor: pick the photos (or a ZIP of them), choose JPEG and click Convert, and they come back together as a ZIP. Safari opens HEIC by itself; in Chrome, Edge and Firefox the editor uses libheif, an open-source HEIC decoder, compiled to run in the page.
Which formats can it open and save?
It opens JPEG, PNG, GIF (the first frame), WebP, AVIF, HEIC and HEIF, TIFF (8 or 16 bits, uncompressed, LZW, Deflate or PackBits, the first page), BMP, ICO, SVG and Photoshop PSD (the flattened image Photoshop stores for other programs, not the layers). It saves JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, BMP and ICO favicons with 16, 32 and 48 pixel icons. A few browsers can't save WebP; the editor says so, and AVIF is the smaller choice then.
How do I remove the location from a photo?
Open it and go to Hidden data. It shows what the file carries: GPS position, date and time, camera and lens, serial numbers, the owner's name and other blocks such as XMP. For a JPEG, PNG or WebP, Save the original without it gives you the same picture, byte for byte, without that data, so no quality is lost. Anything you save from the editor is a new file and never includes it.
How do I add a watermark?
In Watermark, type your text or choose a logo (a PNG with a transparent background works best), then set the position, size, opacity and angle. Tiled repeats it over the whole image, so it can't simply be cropped off. To put the same watermark on many photos, set it up once, then use Convert many images and tick Add the watermark.
How does Remove work?
Paint over what should go and press Remove. The painted area is filled with small patches copied from the rest of the photo, chosen so they continue the texture around it, coarse to fine: the method of Wexler, Shechtman and Irani, with PatchMatch to find the patches quickly. The edges are then blended so the fill matches its surroundings. It works best on water, sky, grass, sand, walls and other textures, and on thin marks such as date stamps, wires and text; large objects in front of detailed backgrounds are harder. Undo if a result isn't right.
Can I remove someone else's watermark?
Only from an image you own or have permission to edit. A watermark usually marks the photographer's copyright, and using their image without a license is infringement whether the mark is there or not. In the United States, knowingly removing copyright management information, such as a credit or a notice on an image, to hide or enable infringement is also prohibited by 17 U.S.C. § 1202. Remove is for your own photos: date stamps, your old watermark, things in the way.
Which is safest for hiding a name or a license plate?
The black box. Blur and pixelate are fine for faces in a crowd, but blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be read back, for example with tools built to reverse pixelation. Covered areas become part of the saved pixels; nothing underneath is kept in the file.
Does it work on an iPhone or iPad?
Yes, in Safari and other browsers. Safari on iPhone and iPad limits how big an image a web page can draw, to about 16.7 megapixels, so a larger photo, such as a 48-megapixel one, needs to be opened on a computer, or resized first. Desktop browsers open up to 100 megapixels.
Why is the preview smaller than my photo?
Edits show on a copy of at most 1,400 pixels on its longest side, so the sliders stay quick. When you save, every edit is made again on the full-size image.
Where do the sample photos come from?
They are Pexels photos the site also uses in its website examples, used under the Pexels license. The date stamp on the lake photo was added for this page, and the marina photo carries made-up camera data and a location at Huntington Harbour, California, so there is something to see and remove.
